Bunk Beds Help To Utilize Limited Space

Bunk beds come in all shapes, sizes, colors and materials. They are made in shapes, such as castles and playhouses, and materials including different woods and metals. Bunk beds can come with desks, playing spaces, and bookshelves, along with different sizes of beds. The choices for bunk beds are amazing.

When moving into a new house and having two small boys, I decided on a bunk bed for my oldest son's room. I thought this would be a great idea to have the same amount of sleeping area as with twin beds, but to save floor space. He loves his twin bunk beds made from knotty pine. They include a set of bookshelves on one side and a desk on the other. We actually drape covers over the top to create a fort.

When building our river cabin we added a loft that we use to sleep spill over guests. We were looking to sleep as many people as we could while making sure they would be comfortable. The best solution for us was to use bunk beds. In the same amount of floor space as regular beds, we were able to sleep double the amount of people. It was a great solution for us and the kids think it is awesome.

There are even bunk beds available with a queen bed on the bottom. My nephew has a metal bunk bed in his room, which has a twin bed on top and a futon, queen size bed on the bottom. He uses the futon as a couch to sit and watch television or play video games with his friends. However, the futon is easily converted to a bed for sleeping when not being used as a sofa.

When staying in a condominium for vacation we have seen bunk beds used very often in small spaces. One of the condominiums where we stayed recently had made a creative use of space and built bunk beds in a large closet in the hall.

By using bi-folding doors, the space was able to be shut off when the beds weren't being used. It was a great utilization of space and allowed us to sleep everyone comfortably in beds. The kids thought the space was made especially for them.

When shopping for bunk beds to use in my boys rooms I saw some really cool choices. For boys, there were bunk beds built to look like forts. There were beds with a canopy on top and walls made from material like a tent on the bottom. They also had bunk beds for little girls that looked like castles, in purple and pink colors with towers on top. They were precious!

Today bunk beds are offered in a variety of styles. The come in the standard bed on bed style, the 'L' shaped style, the futon style and even the loft style. Usually people consider bunk beds to be just one standard style but that just is not true any more. The loft bed offers a work space underneath a top bunk. A 'L' shaped bunk bed offers a solution for limited space without being one bed right under the other. Futon bunks offer a sitting space that can be converted into a sleeping space under a top bunk.
